This amazing national park is found in a large and gorgeous area of about 1,317 square kilometers lying between the North Western and North Central provinces of Sri Lanka. It is sandwiched to the west by the Puttalam district and to the east by the Anuradhapura district.
Weather
The park has a dry climate, where temperatures are between 27°C to 30°C (80°F to 86°F) the entire year. The wet month is from May to September, whereby forest cover is washed green. Dry season falls from February to October.
When to Go on Safari
Here are some details on when you should be booking the safari:
Because the park is open throughout the year, the best moment to go on safari is the dry season, between February and October. Wild animals come to water sources in the park in search of water during the dry spell, so your best bet is to visit the park while these very months host an abundance of wildlife. However, book your safari for October - November if you would like to see the numerous species of birds.
