Where is Marble Beach located?

Marble Beach is on the eastern side of Sri Lanka. It sits in a pretty sheltered bay about 16 kilometres south of Trincomalee town. You can see the entrance pretty clearly; it is signposted on the main coastal road just before the Kinniya bridge, so you can't really miss it.

People go on about the crystal-clear turquoise water and the spotless white sand, and it’s often seen as one of the safest and also most scenic spots for a swim in the Eastern Province. The beach plus the nearby area is looked after and kept in shape by the Sri Lankan Air Force; they run a small resort and restaurant right there. As a visitor, you have to go through a military checkpoint, and you pay a small entrance fee, usually near 100 LKR, to reach the public beach zone. The water stays calm, and it is shallow for a good while, so it works well for snorkelling as well as swimming, without those annoying dangers from strong ocean currents.
